The collection “Geosphere”, is inspired by geological cross sections of the earth's crust, using gouache and acrylic on paper.
I have always been fascinated with my surrounding natural environment, which led me to pursue the science's at college, including Geology, and eventually a degree in Biology at university.
From those scientific beginnings I still maintain a focus for research, experimentation and broadening my understanding of the natural world through my art work.
These landscape diagrams can examine types of rock, their age, structural features such as folds and faults; though these pieces are of an imagined place and time, and focus more on capturing the patterns and shapes these rock formations can reveal, and the immense amount of geological history they can contain.
