This series I wanted to focus on simple geometric shapes. I decided on using Gouache, which I had never used before and I loved it! Lovely and opaque, dries matte and flat, it almost looks screen printed, which was exactly what I was looking for to create these bold simple flat shapes. I also wanting to add something a little different to each piece, so decided on using neons, gold paint, gradients and speckled textures. Here you can see my research wall, trying out the different products and textures. I also decided to use handmade cotton rag paper to make them that little bit more special!
I created a sketch for each piece on my Ipad in Procreate.
These sketches are available as downloadable prints in my Etsy shop!
Here are the final pieces. Will be uploading these to my Etsy shop soon. They were lots of fun to create! So much do that I wanted to try and recreate a few of my favourites on canvas.
Here are the three I ended up recreating with some additional outlines using Posca pens. I used Golden SoFlat Matte Acrylic Paint so create that Gouache like effect.
